♻ Eco-Council take part in Global Action Campaign 2022🌍

28th Apr 2022

This week, the Eco-Council have been taking part in many activities surrounding the theme of biodiversity which have been designed to stimulate connections with nature whilst also encouraging the children to observe local biodiversity.

They took part in nature dipping: they took a walk in the outdoor area and closed thier eyes and listened to their surroundings. They opened their eyes and observed their environment, they then drew a picture of a flower, plant, bird or insect that they found. 👀

The children were also Nature detectives, they learned about the terms native and non-native species. They researched flowers that grow locally and tried to find out what factors impact their growth rate.🌻

The Eco-Council also discussed the topic of endangered or threathened species and found out some very interesting facts such as - Did you know that there are fewer than 25,000 blue whales, the largest animal on the planet. They worked in pairs to design posters which will be displayed to try and bring awareness of how our actions may be impacting wildlife.🐳

We then carried out a litter pick in our playground and were shocked to see the amount of rubbish and non biodegradable items that were lying around our yard.

Well done Eco-Council members, keep up the fantastic work!
